Small-business technology
Bench & Order provides practical small business IT support for independent professionals and small offices in Frederick, Maryland. You work directly with the owner. There is no call center and no rotating technician pool. Most jobs do not require an oversized managed-services contract. I help with Windows PCs, office networking, computer setup, migrations, backups, websites, Linux systems, document organization, and carefully defined private AI projects.
Most small businesses do not need a large managed IT contract. They need a reliable local person who can diagnose a problem, finish a migration, improve a network, repair a website, or plan a defined project. The work stays focused on what is slowing the office down today, not on selling a retainer.
These are the kinds of defined jobs I take on for small offices and owner-operated businesses. Starting points and exclusions live on the pricing page.
Failed media and recovery work have clear limits. Results are never guaranteed.
Suitability depends on the business need, available hardware, privacy requirements, and expected use.
This service tends to fit offices that need practical help without a dedicated internal IT person. Examples of the kinds of customers who often match the work include attorneys, accountants, consultants, real estate professionals, insurance offices, contractors, nonprofits, associations, professional home offices, and small businesses with several workstations. That list describes fit, not a claim of existing clients in those fields. Bench & Order does not market itself as a compliance specialist for regulated industries.
Work may be remote, onsite, completed at the bench, or handled as a defined project across several appointments.
Bench & Order is an owner-operated technology service. You work with the same person from the first conversation through the completed job.
It is suitable for troubleshooting, projects, upgrades, migrations, websites, document systems, and other defined work with clear boundaries.
It is not presented as a 24-hour help desk, and it is not a full-scale managed service provider contract. Emergency response is not guaranteed.
Ongoing support arrangements may be discussed only when they fit actual availability and scope.
Apple devices, phones, tablets, and broad consumer electronics are outside the normal service focus.
Small-business onsite support starts at the rate already shown on the pricing page. Larger jobs receive a written scope before work begins. Parts, licensing, hosting, third-party services, and specialized recovery work are priced separately when applicable.
No. Most Bench & Order work is scheduled by appointment or handled as a defined project. An MSP contract is not required.
Yes. Small multi-PC environments can be assessed and supported when the requested work fits the business scope and scheduling.
Appointments depend on actual availability and are confirmed case by case. Nights and weekends are not promised as a standard guarantee.
Yes. That can include needs assessment, configuration review, purchasing guidance, setup, and migration.
Bench & Order offers new websites, repairs, maintenance, and local visibility work as defined services with a clear scope.
I can assess the use case, source documents, privacy needs, hardware, and expected workload before recommending local, hybrid, or conventional search options.
Next step
Whether the problem is one unreliable computer, a new office setup, a website that needs work, or a larger technology project, start by describing what is happening. I will help determine the most practical next step.
